Images

Upload images, describe them for everyone, and choose what stays in view when they are cropped.

You can upload images wherever a field says Image, Cover image or Photos. The site resizes them for every screen and converts them to modern formats, so upload the largest version you have.

Alternative text

Fill in Alternative text on every image. It describes the image for people who use a screen reader and for search engines. Write what the image shows in a short sentence: "Two people reviewing a page layout on a laptop", not "image1.jpg".

The Studio shows a warning on images without alternative text.

Crop and hotspot

The same image appears in different shapes: wide on a desktop, square on a card, narrow on a phone. Tell the site which part matters:

  1. Click the image, then Edit (the crop icon).
  2. Drag the hotspot (the circle) over the important part, for example a face.
  3. Optionally drag the crop handles to cut away edges you never want shown.

Every crop on the site keeps the hotspot in view.

Captions

Images in rich text and in galleries can have a Caption, shown under the image. Use it for credits and context.

Many photos at once

In a Photos field or an Image Gallery block, drag a whole selection of files onto the field. They upload together and keep their order; drag them to reorder.

While images load

Visitors see a pixelated preview of each image until the full image arrives, so pages do not jump around while loading.
