Studio tour
Find your way around Sanity Studio: the menu, the tools and how publishing works.
Open the Studio in your browser and log in. Locally it runs at http://localhost:3333; a hosted Studio has an address like your-name.sanity.studio.
The menu
| Menu item | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Pages | One-off pages built from blocks: Home, About, Pricing… |
| Collections | Repeating content such as Blog, Projects or Docs. Open one to see its entries and its settings |
| All entries | Every entry of every collection in one list, handy for searching |
| Authors | People shown on blog posts |
| Site Settings | Site name, logo, menu, footer, languages and interface text |
The tools
The tabs at the top switch between three tools:
- Structure: edit content in forms. This is where you spend most of your time.
- Presentation: edit next to a live preview of the site. See Preview and publish.
- Vision: runs queries against the content. Meant for developers.
Saving and publishing
You never need to save. Every change becomes a draft as you type, and the site does not change until you click Publish at the bottom right of the document.
- The ⋯ menu next to Publish can unpublish, duplicate or delete the document.
- The clock icon opens the history, where you can compare and restore earlier versions.
- A green dot next to a document means it is published; orange means it has unpublished changes.
Work on several pages at once
Drafts are kept per document, so you can prepare a new page and its menu link, then publish both when you are ready.
Finding things
Use the search box at the top of the Studio to find any document by title. In long lists, the sort menu (the arrows icon) orders documents by title or date.
